Are you looking for properties in Castlefield? Learn more about the Castlefield area below.
With its history and architecture reflected in the quaint design of cobbled streets, brick warehouses, bridges, viaducts and canal boats, the Castlefield area has a distinctly different vibe to the other more modern Manchester central suburbs. Here, you will find outdoor lamps lining the streets and restaurants lighting up the canals. Flocks of wanderers, dog walkers and sunbathers often head here to enjoy the peace and tranquillity Castlefield has to offer, especially during good weather spells.
Many of the old buildings in Castlefield have been converted into apartments, retaining their traditional features externally, which makes for a truly unique living experience.
Located on the Mancunian Way, Castlefield is at the south west end of the city centre and is an easy base from which to head outwards from Manchester in any direction. It’s also ideally located for exploring other parts of the city, via the Deansgate Metrolink stop or Deansgate station. If you are happier on foot, it’s just a 15-minute walk to the northernmost part of the city.
Appealing predominantly to young professionals, families and those who wish to be near the city centre but not right in the heart of it, Castlefield is a relatively peaceful area away from the noise.
There are plenty of restaurants lining the canal, so there’s always somewhere to eat. Castlefield is home to one of the oldest bars in Manchester, Dukes 92. Entertainment wise, HOME Manchester has a bar, cinema, theatre and restaurants with large outdoor seating areas. There’s also the Museum of Science and Industry, as well as Castlefield Bowl; an outdoor music and entertainment venue with seating for 8,000 people.
